The first U.S. semi-permanent
Hello Kitty Cafe is now open in Southern California at the
Irvine Spectrum Center. This kawaii (Japanese for cute) cafe is housed in a shipping container and is part of a pop-up concept that they're testing out at this Irvine shopping center. The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck has made an appearence at this center previously. From what I hear, this little cafe container will remain at the Spectrum for a whole year. Here's hopes to a permanent brick and mortar cafe in the future. I was able to drop by the container during their soft opening while they were training staff and also stopped in at the media tasting event. I would warn you to expect long lines opening weekend. My advise would be to hold off few weeks for the crowd to die down.
The menu of treats features an assortment of
cookies, pastries and tiny cakes. There are both hot and cold teas and coffees offered on the drink menu. They're signature drinks include a
strawberry mint lemonade and a really tasty
peach iced tea. The coffee drinks feature coffee from the local
Portola Coffee Lab. They even have the cutest Hello Kitty bow shaped water bottles.
This is a any Hello Kitty fan's dream! They have the cutest little set up with cafe tables and chairs for guest to hang out. Each treat has something Hello Kitty incorporated, either with a Kitty head or her signature bow. Check out all the cuteness below!
