Threads :: Vineyard Adventures

A few weeks ago, we traveled to Napa for a mini vacay. Check out my last post on what we ate there. We got to stay at an awesome property with a vineyard right in the backyard. It was the perfect opportunity for a casual photo shoot. I love this black long-sleeved lace panel dress - it's boho and dark at the same time!

Here's what I'm wearing:
Tobi Belle Lace Dress
Nasty Gal Shoe Cult Suede Boots
DIY Necklace

I had my amazing sister-in-law Sarah do my makeup for this shoot (check her out on instagram:@sarahsori) She did a Kylie Jenner look using these Products: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick, NYX Mauve liner. So in love with this lip look, she has tutorials on YouTube on how to achieve this lip and brow look here.

And here's some shots of me pretending to model and exploring our backyard.

I was laughing in this picture because my 1 year old niece was actually sitting right in front of me on the lawn being super cute.

 The end. :)

EATS :: Travels to Napa Valley

I recently went to Napa Valley in Northern California. Although, I'm not much of a wine drinker, there was still lots for me to enjoy as a foodie. We didn't dine out at the fanciest places there because we were traveling with the family, but we did check out some really cool casual places. Here's some highlights on some of the places we stopped by:

Bounty Hunter Wine Bar & Smokin’ BBQ
This place had some delicious BBQ with amazing sauces, we picked some up to bring home on of the nights. They also do wine tastings here.

Oxbow PublicMarket
This was a cute little marketplace w/ small shops and restaurants inside. It is very reminiscent of the Anaheim Packing House or a Small version of the SF Ferry Building.  Here's some of the amazing places found inside:

Whole Spice: This place had almost every spice blend imaginable that you could buy by the oz. I picked up some truffle salt and ghost pepper salt. Can't wait to cook with these!

Fatted Calf Charcuterie: Who doesn't love a meat shop? They have amazing house cured meats and also lots of other meats and sausages that you can buy for cooking on your own. They were so helpful here and let us try the meats before buying them to ensure we would really enjoy them.

Hog Island Oyster Co.: I've had the SF Hog Island on my Yelp bookmarks list for as long as I can remember so I was super excited when I saw they had one in Oxbow. We got a sampler of the oysters and oh man! They were amazing! The mignonette sauce that was served with the raw oysters was absolutely perfect. It was light and accompanied the fresh oysters perfectly to bring out the best flavors.

V. Sattui WineryThe best way to describe this place was the Disneyland of Napa. This was definitely a family friendly place, as most of the places we visited. They had a beautiful large picnic area outside where they offered BBQ selections. Wine tastings are available (check in on Yelp for a 50% deal for 2). There was a really nice deli area to get meats, cheeses and sandwhiches. I really enjoyed this place, but be warned it gets just as crowded as Disneyland. We arrived a bit before 11:30 on a Saturday right as they were opening and by noon, it started to get packed so arrive early to avoid lines and to find a nice spot to relax.

And now some shots at V. Sattui in one of my favorite outfits of all time - I wear this everywhere because it's so comfy; this maxi skirt is like having a blanket on at all times, a very fashionable blanket. :)

October IPSY Glam Bag Review

My October IPSY glam bag is here! At first, I was a bit disappointed at what I had received because I saw some of the teasers posted on their Instagram page but as I examined the items more, I actually really liked them. This month's theme is Beauty Candy. IPSY is a subscription makeup bag that is personalized to your tastes (based on a personality quiz) that I get every month for only $10! It's so cheap, that's why I haven't cancelled yet like other subscriptions I've tried. Get yours here.

Here's what was in my bag this month:
This item came in a cute little container so it was a perfect item to throw into my purse for those days when my hands are feeling a bit dry. It has a light scent that I don't mind and does what it needs to to moisturize.

This is a perfect little travel sized cleanser to throw into my toiletry bag for a weekend away. It smells really nice, although it doesn't lather, it removed my make up pretty well.

Swatch of the nail polish in "On a Gilt Trip’" - this is a matte or suede finish gold glitter polish. I don't really like the color, but I know this brand is high quality. I like the texture of the finish because it's unusual, but the color is a bit light for my liking.

noyah | Lipstick
Lipstick swatch - this is a dark mauve color. The color is nice, but the packaging of the lipstick seems really cheap. In person, it is a bit darker and less pink than is showing up in my photo below. I love mauve on lips so I'll be using this lip color regularly!

I LOVE liquid eye liner and love that I got this full sized liner. I wonder how much product is in this thing and how long it will actually last me. It goes on pretty smooth and seems long wearing. Love that it is waterproof, not many of mine are. It glides on smoothly and I like how dark it is.
